Permanent unemployment

Over the last few decades, huge advances in technology have allowed businesses to do more with less.  Steel mills that needed 1,000 employees are now able to do the same work with 100, so that layoffs were too often permanent, not just a temporary part of the business cycle.

Permanent unemployment and growing. The elephant in the room.  Obama is the very first and only public intellectual to tell this incontrovertible and devastating truth. And only once.   And nobody will pick it up. Not Colbert or Stewart or Madow or Cornell West, or Bill Maher. How can they resist?
